Dear Parents and Families,
WOW!!! Where does the time fly? We have been so busy this year so far and Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are just around the corner. We have many exciting things to look forward to between now and the end of this year. Please check the information below to see what we are up to and mark you calendars for some special upcoming events.
*Next week our students will be taking the First Quarter Math Assessments. Please be sure that they come to school well rested and fed.
*Next week we will be studying our unit on Manners starting with the story Manners Can Be Fun. We will be wrapping our unit up with a very special lunch I have coordinated with our school Cafeteria Manager. She has planned a special menu for our students. I ask that you send them to school on Friday, November 20th dressed in their Sunday best. This luncheon is designed for our students to practice the manners we have learned. Due to scheduling, we are only able to accommodate our students in the Cafeteria. Therefore, I am asking that parents do not choose to come have lunch with your child that day.
*On Monday, November 16th we will be having our First Quarter Awards Ceremony. Second and Third Grade are scheduled from 9:00 - 9:40. ALL are most welcome to attend. This will include students receiving All A Honor Roll, A/B Honor Roll, Conduct, Perfect Attendance, and Accelerated Reader and Math Awards. I hope to see you there!
Also, in early December I am going to be reading the story The Night Tree by Eve Bunting. This is a very sweet story about a family's tradition of going out into the woods each Christmas Season to decorate a tree full of popcorn, berries, etc. for our animal friends. I am asking parents to please be ready to send in some items for our animal friends that you can make at home with your child. A letter will follow with more details.
*I am VERY pleased with the progress most of our students have shown in their reading and math from first quarter to second quarter. Please keep up the good work, boys and girls.
Thank you to all who have sent in snacks for our field trips and Fun Friday as well as our first Ice Cream Party. I appreciate all of your support. Our students certainly deserve it!
We could really use some juice boxes and pre-packaged snacks for our Fun Fridays. I have been purchasing and providing many of these on my own.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Alfieri
