Dear Parents and Families,

     HAPPY NEW YEAR!  I am so excited to be back and ready for the second half of our year.  We have many new things to learn and accomplish as well as previously learned goals to review.

     Mrs. Melton, one of our Teacher Assistants at Koontz will be fulfilling her Student Teaching requirements this semester by working in our room with me.  Please help me in welcoming Mrs. Melton to our class.  I am sure she will do a great job.

     We will continue to do our Accelerated Reader every day as well as Accelerated Math on Mondays.  I also want to incorporate more Accelerated Math by using it in our Centers which will help our students accomplish the Second Grade Math Goals.

      Please be sure that your child is memorizing their Addition and Subtraction Math Facts to 18.  Please also help them refine their reading skills by practicing their reading every night.  Not only is it important to read the words with fluency, but also be able to understand what they are reading (comprehension).
