For the next few weeks, our social studies class will be studying geography. We will take a close look at the Earth and the people who live on it. We will study the five themes of geography: location, place, human-environment interaction, movement, and regions. Some of our topics will include climates and physical formations, human populations and cultures, and natural resources. If you have specific experience with or information about geography, please share it with your child.
We will be studying how geographers find exact locations and how physical features differ from place to place. We will learn about different types of maps. Looking at a map or a globe with your child can be a good way to discuss the information we are studying.
Look for more news about our class study of geography. I hope you and your child will enjoy sharing the study of geography with each other.
