Welcome To Mrs. Cooper's Visual Art I & Visual Art II classes

2007-2008





Supply list for all visual art I classes

  • 3 ring loose-leaf binder
  • sketchbook (11x14, 9x12, or anything close to these sizes)
  • colored pencils (24 color set brand name is not important)
  • drawing pencils (regular #2 pencil will be okay)
  • at least one black ink pen for drawing
  • ruler ( preferably 12 or 15 inch metal ruler )
  • 1 large eraser ( preferably the magic rub or vinyl erasers )
  • felt tip marker set ( 10 color set of thin tip markers and wide tip markers )
  • 2 oz. bottles of assorted acrylic paint- red, yellow, orange, blue, violet, green, white, black, and brown ( paint can be found at Wal-Mart, Michael's, A C Moore's, or Ben Franklin )
  • 1 canvas board or panel
All art supplies can be found at Staples, Office Depot, Wal-Mart, and above mentioned stores. If there is a problem with getting supplies please do hesitate to call the school ( 279-5232 ) and I (Mrs Cooper) will MAKE sure you have what you need.

  • 3 ring loose-leaf binder for class notes, worksheets etc.
  • sketchbook (11x14, 9x12 or anything close)
  • drawing pencils (no. 2 pencil will be fine)
  • 1 large vinyl eraser
  • 2 oz. bottles of acrylic paint, colors needed are----red, yellow, blue, green, purple, orange, brown, black, and white
  • THIS CLASS REQUIRES A $25.00 FEE !!!!!!



Class Rules For Visual Art I & II

  1. Be in your seat and on task when the bell rings.
  2. Bring all needed materials to class each day.
  3. Respect school property, art materials, and the people around you.
  4. Work area and room must be clean before you are dismissed from class.
  5. Follow all school rules.
  6. Above all be positive and believe in yourself.

Weekly Assignments For Visual Art I


  • Monday (8-25-08) Class discussion on classroom rules,school rules, and Visual Art I currculum. Students will also have an overview of class projects. Students will take What Do You Know Quiz to determine prior knowledge of art terms and concepts----  this will NOT be graded.    Students will begin Name Card Activity using and designing letters of first and last name, as well writing three adjectives or nouns telling about themselves. Students will present their name card to the class tomorrow.
  • Tuesday (8-26-08) Students will present their  Name Card to the class---this will help students to get to know each other. Students will begin unit on Pattern. Students will discuss use of patterns as well as pattern terms using Arttalk textbook. Students will define pattern terms, answer questions on pattern and do concept map on types of patterns.
  • Wednesday (8-27-08) Students will begin Portfolio Design Project using first initial, middle initial, and all letters of their last name in designing composition for portfolio. Students will also incorporate use of pattern as well as developing a color scheme for composition. Due date for project will be 9-2-08.
  • Thursday (8-28-08 )Students will  continue working on Portfolio Design Project incorporating use of pattern and color scheme.
  • Friday (8-29-08) Students will work toward finishing Portfolio Design Project---completion date is 9-2-08. Students will be given a homework assignment in their sketchbook. Students will need to draw a Beach Scene using no. 2 pencil. Drawing must show highlights, shadows, and use of values. Students will be given a hanout to help with sketch as well as a demonstration on the correct way to shade with pencil. Due date for homework sketch will be 9-5-08.
