FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCES
...courses in which students learn valuable skills by performing them...information and facts...work ethic...problem-solving...decision making...how to collaborate with others...in other words...things you need throughout life!
Congratulations on selecting a FACS course for this year...be ready to learn with 'hands-on' experiences related to your chosen area!
Early Childhood Education...we will begin with competency 1.00...characteristics desirable in people who teach or work with children; then on to competency 2.oo...career opportunities in this area. After a period of preparation, you will perform an internship as a student teacher assistant at some of the five ERHS feeder schools. Be thinking about where you would like to begin.
Consider whether we want to have a HERO club this year...exclusive to ECE students; provides opportunities for community service; leadership possibilities; fun!
Apparel Development...Our first competency deals with understanding how to use various pieces of sewing equipment...as we pursue this area, we will intermingle competency 6.00...reasons for our apparel and home textile choices. This strategy will allow time for you to collect equipment and select fabrics and notions for our beginning sewing projects...can't wait!
Think about participating in our FACS club...open to all FACS students...several personal growth opportunities will be available to members...details later when we have elected a slate of officers.
WELCOME TO FACS!
