We are currently starting Chapter 1. Some of these areas are review so wipe off the Math dust and get your thinking caps on! Areas we will cover include comparing and ordering whole numbers, estimating, exponents, order of operations, mental math (properties), and finding a pattern! Be ready for a quiz at the end of Chapter 1-4! Notes are an important part of your learning as well as homework...do both!!!
I can't stress enough to practice multiplication facts!!!!
Reading:
We will be beginning our Pet Unit. This unit will consist of reading "The Stray," "Zlateh the Goat," and "Because of Winn Dixie." Areas to be covered include story elements (plot, theme, characters, setting, etc.), time of events, short stories, a novel, and writing skills. We will be beginning a project soon and will complete it in class-I will let the students know if they need to bring any supplies in from home. There will also be other projects and assignments that may have to be completed outside of class.
Students will have a Comprehension Quickie to complete each night. These are short passages with questions. Expect one each night for homework!
REMINDERS:
-You need to keep track of your homework pads throughout the year. Homework pads are to be with you at ALL times. They should be with you in each class, if you're in the restroom, and at home to check for your homework assignments. Parents should be checking these as well to keep track of your homework!
