We are working extremely hard on the objectives in the Standard Course of Study.  Reading in the content area is stressed in this program, and I highly recommend that all students in this program read every night.  Whether it be homework that is assigned or the newspaper, they need to read a minimum of 20 minutes.  Reading is the key to success.  The students have been working on phonics skills in a program called Language.  The Language program is a research program that has shown excellent results.   Each student should increase his/her reading level significantly if they work hard this year.
Attendance is extremely important to be successful in any school program.  Please make sure your son/daughter is rested and in school every day.  We need to work together for the students to be successful.
A project will be assigned every Tuesday and due on the following Tuesday.   A parent/guardian signature is required on the project.   Please ask your son/daughter for the project sheet every week as a reminder.  Homework will also be sent home periodically in math and Science during the week.
I am pleased with the way the year is going, and I hope you are as well.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at school during my planning period between (11:00-12:15).
