We made it! Your child is now a first grader! It is very important that you continue reading, reading, reading during the summer months. We hope that each of you will take advantage of the summer reading program that is offered by the Rowan Public Library. If you have not already registered for this summer fun, please call the library to get information. This is an excellent program at no cost and the children will love it. It is also a good idea to let your child keep a journal during the summer months. Have your child draw a picture and write sentences using the knowledge learned in Writer's Workshop. Encourage your child to do this. Both of you will enjoy reading it in the future. Keep the list of high frequency words and if your child did not accomplish learning to read and spell all 25 words, then it is important that this be a goal for the summer. It has been a busy year but so much fun! We are so proud of the growth of each child and we know first grade will be exciting and challenging! Continue to be the best parent you can be as you work with your child. Have a safe summer!
