Welcome to the 2nd quarter at West Rowan Middle School. As a 6th grade Inclusion and Resource Teacher, I am involved with students in the Exceptional Children Department. I ensure these students are receiving modifications specified on their Individual Educational Plan. As an Inclusion Teacher, I co-teach Math with Mrs. Nussman and Language Arts with Mrs. Shepherd. I also teach a Resource Language Arts class, which follows the same curriculum as the Inclusion class but in a smaller class setting. I encourage students and parents to visit Mrs. Nussman's and Mrs. Shepherd's webpages for more details. Also, be sure to visit some of the links below to help our students become stronger in their language arts and math skills.
Math Focus:
During the second quarter student focus will be on the following math concepts:

decimals

fractions

percent

variable equations

NCSCOC: The learner will understand and compute with rational numbers and will demonstrate an understanding of simple algebraic expressions.

******* Remeber to bring index cards to class each day to be used as flash cards for any mathematical concepts the student may need help remembering.

Language Arts Focus: During the second quarter student focus will be on reading "The Watsons Go To Birmingham". They will also focus on prefixes and context clues each week to strengthen vocabulary.

NCSCOC: Study the characteristics if literary genres through reading a variety of literature and other text.
