Welcome to my web page. I hope you find information that helps you understand what is going on in the classroom. We are learning many new and fun things. We are also reviewing previously taught skills..
Math- We have worked hard this year and find ourselves in an interesting place. We have worked our way through the second grade curriculum. We now have the opportunity to review some weak areas and assess our students knowledge of what they have learned this year. I have introduced the students to multiplication and we are exploring division. However, our main focus will be to review and concentrate on any area that is still difficult.
Science- We will conduct investigations and use appropriate technology to build an understanding of the concepts of sound.
Reading- Accelerated Reading will end on May 16. Please help your child reach his or her goal by that date. Our class will be reading chapter books during our reading block. Ask them what they are learning! Spelling/ Writing- We will be testing on some of the words from our reading series this quarter to give the students a little break from the high frequency list. However, we will continue testing on our 200 high frequency words. We are writing every day. Please check homework for correct spelling, neat handwriting, capital letters, and complete sentences. These are the things we have been working on all year and many students do not yet have these skills.
