Everyday your child is expected to read for 30 minutes. It is a good idea for your child to read an AR book. I hope that everyone has seen the reading log that I am requiring each child to have filled out EVERY night. If you have any questions about the requirements please contact me.

Reading groups continue to go very smoothly with different activities used to meet the needs of all the students. This gives me a chance to work with students on their reading level as well as give the students a chance to feel successful during reading instruction. The ultimate goal is to move all students up to the proper reading level for our grade.

The students are currently reading Science related books. They are all reading a book that expands the study of plants that we are doing in Science.

Math

We are now working on fractions and measurement. Please continue to study multiplication with your child every night.

Donations are always appreciated. Our class can always use index cards (any size, any color), pencils, erasers, candy (nothing with peanut butter), tissues or anything else that you would like to give.

We are in GREAT NEED of PENCILS AND TISSUES!!!!!!!!!!!!

Writing

I have seen great improvement in all of the children's writing. I appreciate all the help you have been giving to your child during their writing homework. We are now writing essays. The students are working hard on trying to change their thinking from narrative writing to essay writing.

Enrichment Wednesdays

Enrichment Wednesdays have begun. Each Wednesday the students will change classes and do activities, games and hands-on things to increase their understanding of the concepts we have been teaching. This will be great for a change in atmosphere and fresh faces (students and teachers) for your child.
