Our homework for spelling will be:
Monday/A word sort. The student is to sort the words in any manner they choose. They must be able to justify the sort if asked to. Example of sort: all words beginning with the letter "a" will go in one column, all words beginning with the letter "b" will go in the second column, and so on.
They may choose to sort by number of letters in each word. It is their choice.
Tuesday/Rainbow write their words. This is where the student outlines the spelling word a pencil or crayon to highlight the letter shapes of each word. (This helps with muscle memory to form a concrete image of the word in the brain).
Wednesday write your words in abc order.
Thursday do something fun with your spelling words, your choice.

Math Homework
Beginning this week I will ask the students to create their own multiplication grid. They will do this on regular lined paper. This to help prepare them for the inevitable testing situations they face. My plan is to make them so familar with this tool that they will be able to create one before doing any assigned problems.
Reading homework will be to read 20 minutes each night and record your time, the title of the book, and the number of pages you read.

Hints:
Make sure he/she has a quiet place to study and work on homework.
Set a time for your child to work on homework.
Provide your child with the necessary materials for completing homework.
Read with your child.
