As we wind down our school year we will be reviewing for the EOG. In class students will be working individually and then in groups to answer practice EOG questions. They will then begin working in their groups to create a poster/ song/skit/game or comic strip to summarize a specific goal or group of objectives. This group work will be acompanied with review games as we get closer to the EOG test. EOGs are May 15-21.

Students will continue to have homework quizzes every Friday and homework assignments every night with the exception of Fridays.

Extra Tutoring is available of Tuesday's and Wednesday's from 3:30 - 4:30 with Mrs. Gibbons. Students will need a ride to pick them up at 4:30 in the front lot.

What we are doing this year.

Major concepts and skills covered this year in 8th grade math are:

Real numbers
Ratio, proportion, and percent
Linear functions
Factors and multiples
Pythagorean theorem, indirect measurement
Box plots and histograms
Scatterplots
Volume and surface area
Slope
Equations and inequalities
Our curriculum goals for the year are categorized in to five different strands:
Number and Operations, Measurement, Geometry, Data Analysis and Probability, and Algebra

End Of Grade Test
At the end of the year we will be having an End Of Grade Test. The test will be a total of 80 questions and the students are allowed to use a calculator for the entire test.
Goal 1: Number and Operations will make up 10-15% of the test.
Goal 2: Measurement will make up 10-15% of the test.
Goal 3: Geometry will also make up 10-15% of the test.
Goal 4: Data Analysis and Probability will make up 20-25% of the test.
Goal 5: Algebra will make up 35-40% of the test.
