Dear Parents,
Please continue to monitor homework. Make sure your child is completing all the assignments listed below. Also make sure your child has supplies for class each day. They need pencils, crayons, scissors, and glue.

WEEKLY HOMEWORK
Homework will be sent home on Monday and should be returned on or before Thursday.

Reading - Students have been assigned a reading book that should be at a comfortable level for them. A sheet of paper will be inside the book for you to sign. Your signature should be on the line next to the pages that student has read.

Math - Students will be given a worksheet each Monday to complete.

Spelling - Students have a list of their spelling words. They should use each word in a sentence, put the words in ABC order, and write the words three times each. Please help them study for a test on Friday.

MONTHLY HOMEWORK

RAH (Read At Home) - Students should read 10 books each month. These books are to be listed in their RAH folder. Please have your child bring their RAH folder to school after they have read 10 books. These may be library books or books at home.

The students are working on many things in class. They participate in a phonics program called SRA everyday. They also write everyday during writer's workshop. They have a language arts block in which they work on reading and language arts skills. Along with their regular math, they work on accelerated math which allows them to review all the skills they've learned and practice new skills. Science and social studies are also included in our school day. We are currently working on a transportation unit. We are working hard to reach all the goals expected in second grade. Please continue to help your child at home and monitor their progress.

Thanks for your support,

        Mrs. Wise and Ms. Goodman
