What's going on in class?

Reading - Monday we will be reading "Yippe Yay" a story that introduces our school theme "Lasso your Learing and Saddle up for Success". We will also cover rules and classrooms proceedures during this time. Tuesday through Friday we will cover the story "Cliff Hanger". Be sure to ask your child about this adventureous tale.
Spelling - Short Vowel sounds a, e, and i. See the Flashcards and your student's agenda for a full list. Spelling tests are every Thursday. Retakes for 75% or less are on Fridays.

Math- We will be reviewing addition, subtraction, and place value skills from second grade. We have hands on Math Centers Every Friday. Ask your student what they learned or enjoyed.

Science - We are going to start our plant study by focusing on desert plants like the cactus.

Social Studies - I alternate science and social studies in class. We will start S.S. in a few weeks after our plant unit in science is complete.

Our Typical Daily Schedule
7:30 - 8:00 Accelerated math, morning work, cursive
8:05 - 8:45 Specials
Monday - Art
Tuesday - P.E (no skirts and please wear tennis shoes)
Wednesday - No Special
Thursday - Guidance/SSR
Friday - Music
8:45 - 8:50 Bathroom Break
8:50 - 10:30 Reading, Writing, Language Arts, Spelling
10:30 - 10:50 Read Aloud
10:50 - 11:20 Lunch
11:20 - 11:25 Bathroom Break
11:25 - 12:30 Math
12:30 - 1:15 Science/Social Studies/Health (these subjects are also integrated into our reading selections)
1:15 - 1:45 Intervention: During this time some students leave to see other teachers for Speech, EC, Title 1 or AG services. Those that remain in class work on unfinished assignments, Accelerated Math, Perscriptive Instruction, Reading Counts, or work with myself on individual skills.
1:45 - 2:15 Recess/Energizers
2:15 - 2:25 pack up, write assingments in agendas
2:25 Go Home :)

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. What was I supposed to do for homework?
Homework should always be in the student's agenda.
If not please call me at home and I will confirm their assignments :)
2. Is there anything I can do to help?
Be active in your child's education by staying up on homework, reading with them everynight for 20 minutes and writing the title of the book they are reading in their homework folder, and always ask questions about their day.
3. Is there anything you need for class?
Bunny Supplies - Although "Hercules" does not travel home with students on weekends, they are still learning to care for him in class. If you would like to send in supplies for him, here are things that he definitly likes.
Grocery - Baby Carrots, Kale, Broccoli. Please cut and clean these items before send in, thank you.
PetSmart or Petco - Yogurt treats, Nut ball or Wooden chews
Tractor Supply - LM Animal Farms Brand - Classic Pet Rabbit Food and Timothy Hay-Kob. He also loves the little crackers found near the rabbit food.
Pencils, pencil top erasers, dollar store items for the prize box, Germ - X hand sanitizer, sugar free gum, individually wrapped candies or treats, juice boxes, sandwhich, quart and gallon sized bags and Clorox cleaning wipes are always in need. :)
