Dear Parents/Guardians:
As many of you know, I have accepted the position of North Carolina Literacy Coach at North Rowan Middle School; however, I want to express to you how truly humbled and appreciative I am of the opportunity to have been able to teach your child in the AIG program here at NRMS. The decision to accept this position was not a spontaneous one--much thought and prayer went into it--, and I waited until the "twelfth-hour" to even submit my resume and application. The NC Literacy Coach's position affords me the opportunity to serve on a level that will help ensure success for ALL of the children in this school.
I am confident to hand over the reigns of the AIG Language Arts classes to Mrs. Patti Secreast, whom many of you already know. Mrs. Secreast is more than qualified to teach this class. Throughout her career, she has exhibited excellence as a classroom teacher, a mentor, and a Curriculum Coach. The big PLUS is that she has served in all of these roles here at NRMS consecutively for the last 34 years. Her instructional strategies are very similar to mine, and she is very knowledgeable of the contents of this subject.
In additition, Mrs. Secreast has asked that I share her words with you: "I feel blessed to have such an exciting and challenging opportunity at this point in my educational career. I intend to maintain a high level of collaboration and trust with you--the parents and guardians--that Ms. Woods has developed with you in the past. In addition, I intend to maintain the high expectations and atmosphere of excellence she has also established. I am happily anticipating working with your son or daughter as you and I work together to prepare your child for today and tomorrow."
