I was born and raised in North Carolina. I grew up in Lewisville, which is just west of Winston-Salem. I moved to Charlotte in 1999 to go to college and never left. This will be my 5th year teaching, all of which I have taught students with autism. My hobbies include spending time with family and friends, taking care of my dog(Koda) and cat (Tigger), cross-stitching, and reading...and right now, planning my wedding!
The school year has gotten off to a great start! The students are doing an excellent job on their spelling tests and they are all making progress on their IEP goals!
We are starting a new program for Social Studies/Life Skills. It is called the Champions program and was created by the Boy Scouts of America! The students seem to enjoy it!
Also, on Wednesday, October 22, 2008, we will be going to the YMCA for the first time to go swimming. Our swimming trips will continue about every other week through late April! I am very excited about having this opportunity this school year and know the students will enjoy it!
