Mrs. Saunders' update for the month of May is below.
The end of another school year is almost here.
Here it is May, and I find it hard to believe this school year is about to end. Your children have worked very hard this year, and I am very proud of the progress they have made. We are waiting for the IPT writing scores to come back from the Spring Assessment given in February. This is the state mandated English language proficiency assessment that documents your child's growth in second language acquisition.
I am excited about the Reading Curriculum which has been adopted statewide for English Language Learners (ELL). Rowan-Salisbury Schools chose Hampton-Brown. As an ESOL teacher, I have been longing for such an adoption for years. This should greatly improve the reading skills & comprehension of your students.
I welcome the opportunity to conference with you about your child's progress. Please see the information below. I thoroughly enjoy working with your children. I hope I am making a difference in their learning.
I am available for conferences with you before school from 8:00 AM-8:15 AM and from 2:30 PM-3:15 PM. I understand that work schedules may conflict with these times. If you need to see me later than the times given, please contact me at (704) 639-3042. I usually don't leave school much before 4:00 PM so just let me know, in advance, a time that is convenient for you.
