We are in the middle of Red Ribbon Week, a week set aside for drug education and awareness. Every day there have been activities encouraging students to live drug free lives.
On Monday Mayor Mullin of Highlands read a proclamation of Red Ribbon Week after the announcements. Officer Castle and other police officers handed out bracelets urging students to be drug free. Elementary students colored the end of white styrofoam cups red and we made a sign on the fence around the track that said: Highlands School Says Be Drug Free!
On Tuesday we celebrated Sock It To Drugs Day by wearing silly socks. Mrs. Bowen made pictures of everyone's silly socks and put them in a PowerPoint that is playing in the Media Center.
On Wednesday, students signed a huge bulletin board pledging to be drug free.
On Thursday, Mr. Jetter and Mr. Draheim will give all students a red lollipop to signify licking the drug problem.
Friday is Red Day. Everyone wears red and a red ribbon to complete the week of activities.

Welcome to the Highlands School Media Center!
I am glad that you have logged in to learn about the latest news from the Media Center.
We just completed a very successful Scholastic Book Fair. Thank you to all the PTO volunteers who helped to make the Book Fair a success.
The Accelerated Reader, STAR Reader, and Accelerated Math programs are now up and running. Since we now have Renaissance Place which gives us access to ALL the AR tests, we do not maintain a list locally. To find out if a book has an AR test, go to this website:
http://www.renlearn.com
Click on Store, then Quiz Search. You can search by Title, Author, or Quiz, number or ISBN number. Be sure to make sure that the book and the quiz are exactly the same as there are some titles that are the same but have different authors.
