Warm-up: | Sponge: If you were asked to compose a piece of music, what type of music would you compose (opera, symphony, musical, etc.)? Give reasons for your choice.
Theory: Lesson 10 | Sponge: Do you think being a composer would be an exciting career? Write a paragraph explaining your answer.
Theory: Lesson 11 | Sponge: If you were going to write an opera (a sung play), write a paragraph of what it would be about? Would it involve a lot of characters? Would it be happy or sad?
Theory: Lesson 12 | Sponge: Do you know of someone who writes or composes music? Tell me about them and their music. | Sponge: What is your favorite Disney song? Tell why it is your favorite. What movie was it from?

| Word Splash: Students will work collaboratively in small groups reviewing material on our composer, Ludweg Beethoven. As they review and scan the material, students will choose and list significant words. Students will then create a word splash and present it to the class telling the significance of each word in relation to the composers life and works. | Bio-Poems: Students will work in collaborative groups to create a Bio-Poem on Beethoven. Bio-Poems will be shared with the class. | Video: Beethoven Lives Upstairs
