Week of 9-8 ~ 9-11
Our PTA fundraiser continues this week. All the students who sale one box of chocolate will be treated to a party. If your child has not received candy and would like to participate send a note requesting a box.
Our school collects box tops! Please send these in to your child's homeroom teacher. The class that sends in the most will be treated at the end of the semester!

MATH
Weekly Lesson This week we will focus on recognizing patterns in function tables. Students will learn how to write rules for the function tables with variables. A quiz will be given on Tuesday, Sept. 15. A short homework sheet will be sent home to help your child target the type of problems that will appear on Tuesday's quiz. MATH 4 TODAYEvery Monday of full weeks your child will be given a new Math 4 Today sheet. It is due completed by Friday of the same week. We will go over the problems in class on Friday and students will star the type of problems that will be on the test. The test will be given on the following Monday and the notes taken during class on Friday can be used on the test. This is a vital tool of review of all fifth grade standards and therefore it is very important for each child to have the sheet completed by Friday.
SCIENCEOur first week on the scientific method was great! Students learned the importance of precise measurements while recording how far their paper airplane traveled. We also displayed our data on bar graphs!This week we will focus more on variables: Controlled, Independent, and Dependent VariablesStudents will be given a pretest on Thursday to better prepare them for their test on Friday.
