Reading
On Monday and Tuesday, reading will be whole group instruction on main idea and details.  Beginning Wednesday, we will continue working in "Guided Reading" stations.  There will be a leveled fiction station, nonfiction station, game station, Versa-Tiles Station, and Odyssey Station.  I will be working with a guided reading group on their particular level based on lexile range. This individualized instruction will be on the students' level and studies show that it is more effective in increasing students reading comprehension skills than whole group reading instruction.
English
We will begin Daily Language Review and Daily Paragraph Editing sheet #4.  Students will be taking notes each day on the langauge skills for each section of the handout.  We will also be studying the parts of a friendly letter and students will be writing one as well.
Social Studies
On Monday and Tuesday, we will begin a new study guide for the inventors and industrialization.  Then, beginning on Wednesday, we will continue reading the novel Letters From Rifka which tells the story of immigration during the early 1900s through the eyes of a colorful young Russian girl.

Please let me know if you have questions regarding what we will be doing this week.  Thanks for your support!  I am greatly enjoying working with your wonderful young women!
