PTO Open House is rescheduled for September 11th at 6:30 pm immediately following the cookout. 

Please check the student calendar in your child's agenda for upcoming events. 

What we're working on the 1st 9 weeks: 

Daily Oral Language- this is a daily warm-up excercise to strenghten rules of writing.

Journal Quest- Students are given 84 topics from which they may choose to write in their journals daily.  Rewards are given at the end of each 9 weeks for completion

Grammar Skills- the conventions of the English language are explored with a wide variety of activities.

Autobiography-Students will individually create this project according to a specific guideline which will be discussed September 2nd.

Script-Students will collaboratively write a script and dramatize it.  A participation form will be given toward the end of the 9 weeks.

Writer's Notebook- Students will keep a notebook of personal entries.  This will be toward the end of the 9 weeks.

Various writing prompts/activities- these will be ongoing throughout the year.

Outline- We will use the "outline" method for organizing our writing for practicing writing 5-paragraph essays.  Students will be taking a state writing test in March.

IN CLASS: DOL- Monday & Tuesday, JQ #6, indentify pronouns using workbook, go over DOL test 1, Turn in City or Country...Which do you prefer & why?,  identify pronouns-WB p. 7, introduce conventions of writing-def. in notebooks, introduce Autobiography project.

AT HOME: Review DOL, DOL test Friday, DOL classwork due Fri., "Autobiography" project form signed-due Wed.

WEDNESDAY

IN CLASS:  DOL - Wednesday, JQ #7, analyze Subject Pronouns, flashcards of conventions, Title page of Auto.

AT HOME: Review DOL, DOL test Friday, DOL classwork due Fri.,

THURSDAY

IN CLASS:DOL -Thursday, JQ #8, review for Friday's DOL test, identify object pronouns, flashcards of conventions, "Just the Basics" of Autobiography project.

AT HOME: Review DOL, DOL test Friday, DOL classwork due Fri.,

FRIDAY

IN CLASS:  Catch up on JQ 1-8, DOL  Test, staple DOL classwork to test for classwork grade, flashcards of conventions, complete cover, title page, and "Just the Basics" of Auto. project.

AT HOME: Enjoy your weekend!
