Magnet High School applications are now available for 8th grade students. Please see Ms. Ficklin ASAP. Do not wait until the last minute!
On Thursday, Oct 22 students will receive information on the online CRCT practice site. They will receive the login information from their homeroom teachers. Please encourage them to practice. NOTE: There is no Social Studies Practice Test available at this time. Why? I don't know.
Our class is in need of tissues and hand sanitizer. We would appreciate any donations.

Advanced Content Program: The curriculum and instructional strategies for this course are differentiated in content, pacing, process skills emphasis, and expectation of student outcomes from the regular Social Studies course. Curriculum content has been designed for mastery and extension, of state and district content standards. The course is appropriate for students who have high achievement and interest in Social Studies. The district has established criteria and guidelines that identify these students. Students are placed in this class according to specified indicators of demonstrated exceptional ability and motivation. Students must meet continuation criteria to remain in this class. (80% average)
Extra Credit work is NOT given in AC Social Studies.
WHY IS WORK DONE IN CLASS?
The main reason work is in class is so that I can see the process and track the progress they make. Most of the time when a student works only at home they need to re-do or make large scale corrections. I have also found that many are telling me that they are working -but when it is due- they are not prepared.
IF YOU MOVE TO ANOTHER SCHOOL...
Your child is not guaranteed the same placement at another school. Even if you move within the county. If your child was in the gifted program in elementary school they are guaranteed one class. At Cooper we try to offer more but this
is not the same at other schools.
An email/note from you that: gives permission for the records to be sent, the name of the new school (if in Cobb) or the new school address or fax number will get your child's GF records there in a timely fashion.
