Study Skills/TV Productions

Students are enrolled in a fast paced high energy class that encorporates all aspects that Fort Middle School has to offer. Students are expected to come in everyday with a great attitude and the willingness to work hard to create a great product.

Students will be running a news broadcast every morning for our morning announcements. Students will have various tasks including: script writing, camera work, interviewing, anchoring, productions, and managing.

Students are given a great amount of responsibility to make sure that we have a great announcement program running every single day. Students are graded on their performance and daily work.

Our TV Production class was very excited for the opportunity to go to WTVM News Channel 9 Station to watch a live broadcast in the near future!

Homework:

Students will very rarely have a homework assignment to take home once we have started the daily announcement process. If a student misses a single day for any various reason they are expected to complete a "makeup" assignment to catch up from the day before. Students that do not complete their assignment during class time will be expected to come after school that day to complete their assignment.

Technology Education:

Text:
No Required Text.
•    Text used: Technology: Shaping our World By: Gradwell, Welch, and Martin

Description (s):
All students will examine and learn basic levels of engineering, systems, and innovations.

Goals:
•    Students will show gains in skills of critical thinking, math & science, and innovation.

Requirements:
•    Pen, Paper
•    Students will be graded daily on class participation, test/quiz scores, and project creations.
•    Students are expected to come to class on time, on a daily basis. The class will have a short amount of time to get all of the work complete, so attendance is very important.

Evaluation:
•    Student achievement is based on their daily performance in class.
•    Weekly notebook grades.
•    Students will also have written assignments, quizzes, and tests that will be factored into their grades.

Students will complete module rotations throughout the semester where they will use media and text resources to research and apply their knowledge in a culminating activity.

TSA (Technology Student Association): Students will have a unique opportunity to participate in the Technology Student Association. We will be training to compete in various activities and projects throughout the year. The club will meet after school beginning in November. A newsletter will go out for each student that is interested in joining.
