GIVE THE GIFT OF SIGHT
Does your PTA contribute to the DCCPTA Eyeglass/Eye Exam Fund every year? If so, thank you! Did you know that 100% of these monies go to providing low-cost eye exams and eyeglasses to public school students in Duval County Public Schools who have failed their initial eye screening and need to be seen by a professional? Their principal or guidance counselor must refer the students who receive help from this fund because they have no other resource to get the vision correction they need to be successful in school and in life. We have a dedicated group of optometrists and ophthalmologists who provide the exam and glasses for approximately $75 total. Of the 7,000+ students who need followup exams, we annually have requests for 350-400 students who need financial help. Most of the money donated to this fund comes from PTAs all over Duval County. The gift of sight would be a lifelong present any of our PTAs or community members could give to these students, many of whom are legally blind and sitting in a classroom trying to learn. Annually, we need $30,000 to $35,000 to meet the need parents cannot. Please consider donating additional money to this account to meet all these needs and ensure all of our students have the physical capacity to learn. Our funds are becoming depleted and we need your help!

Exceptional Student Education NewsEEAC Surrogate Parents are needed for ESE students. A surrogate parent is not someone who takes care of a child and is not financially responsible for the child. A surrogate parents is more like a "school parent," the person who works with the school to plan the child's special education services.
