NEWLY PUBLISHED INFORMATION

A MESSAGE FROM SUSAN BUBEL, Booster Vice-President/Fundraising Chair
Parents:
Thank you for your support of our Niceville H.S. Choral Music Program.
It is very important each student participate in our first fundraising event of the school year.
If your student has not shared the flyer with you -- we kicked off a pizza fundraiser last Friday.  All orders and monies are due on Wednesday, October 15, 2008.  Orders will arrive the last week of October -- actual delivery date to be announced.
While this is called a pizza fundraiser, there are several other items available for purchase:  Pizza kits, dessert kits, Chee-Zee Bread Kits, Pretzels, Calzones, Cookie Dough, Dog Treats, Crayola Colored Cookie Dough, Cinnamon Rolls, Churros, Pumpkin Rolls, Pies and Cheesecakes.
If you had the opportunity to join us at our September Booster meeting, pizza and cookie dough were available for your sampling.
As our program is completely self-funded, this fundraiser will be the our first influx of funding for the school year.  This is VERY IMPORTANT!
Items of interest -- especially to our students:
=    MERITS - MERITS - MERITS --  One for each of the first 5 items you sell, two for each item if you sell between 6 and 10 and three merits per item if you sell more than 10.
FREE COOKIE DOUGH - also remember you get a free tub of chocolate chip cookie dough if you sell 11 items.
Additionally, 50% of the proceeds for each students sales will be deposited into their individual chorus account.  These funds can be used for their expenses throughout the year -- All-County, All-State, our spring trip to Atlanta.
     We reminded the students:
"Don't forget your friends, neighbors, family, teachers and churches.  Also, if your parents don't mind, maybe they could ask at their places of work."
Once again, thank you for support our choral music program.
If you have any questions, please let me know.

     What's big?
The Emerald Coast Choral Festival, that's what.
The ECCF is a project of the Niceville Chorus Booster's Association and the Arts Center at the Northwest Florida State College.
Most of all, it is potentially a huge money maker.
So, what does this have to do with you right now?
We need sponsors to get this project off the ground, to fund our organizational efforts and mailings that will go to chorus programs in schools from the Atlantic coast all the way across Texas.
Who will help us?  You may have ideas.
Our different levels of sponsorship will be printed here during the next few days.  Perhaps you know someone who would like to sponsor this event and get some advertisement bang for their buck.
     Keep watching this spot.
In the meantime, click here to vist the ECCF website.

While the first payment for the Atlanta trip is not due until December 5, students may begin bringing in money now.
The first payment of $125 must reach Treasurer Julie Burrell no later than December 5 to reserve a place on the trip to sing in Atlanta in April.
Small payments may be made between now and the first payment deadline.
Payments of $35 per month between now and December would more than make the deposit.

The next honor chorus rehearsal will be on Monday evening, October 13.
Check-in time for the rehearsal will be 5:25 PM for the practice that will held at Choctaw H.S.  The bus will leave the campus at 5:30 PM.
Parents should be prepared to pick up their singer(s) at 8:30 PM.

Print the first page of this edition of SchoolNotes (October 8) and bring it to school with a PARENT SIGNATURE, PRINTED STUDENT NAME and CHORUS CLASS and you will be awarded three (3) merits.
Students, today's SchoolNote page must be turned in at the start of your class period ONLY on Thursday, October 9.

For information regarding uniforms you may call the chorus office (833-4262) or e-mail Karen Whitworth at uniforms@nicevillechorus.com .

Are you a boy who would like to sell your tuxedo so you can buy a larger size? Have you graduated and need to sell?
For the next two days you can bring your chorus dress or tuxedo to the chorus room to consign for sale.
The only way that your dress or tux will be accepted is:
a. you pin a self-addressed, stamped (.41) envelope onto the garment and,
b. you afix, in a very stable fashion, some other type of identification to each piece of the uniform you want sold.
Without the envelope and a way to positively identify the dress or tux, there is no reason to leave your uniform with the Chorus to sell.
Used dresses will be sold for $55. Used tuxedoes will be sold for $85.

PARENTS AND SINGERS CAN TRACK GRADES IN ALL NHS CLASSES.  You can check grades by clicking here which will take you to the Niceville High School web-page.  Or you can click here and go directly to the grades page.  You must have the student ID number (from the last report card).  The last 4 digits of that number is the PIN number.
GRADES ARE BEING POSTED DAILY.  Parents are strongly encouraged to track their singer's grades in all of their classes.  Home computers and the Internet give parents the ability to check grades at home, daily.  Parents ... the day has passed when you cannot find out what your student was doing academically on a daily basis in chorus/school.
