Dear Parents and Students,

I am sure that by now you have been informed that I will not be returning next school year to Ada Merritt. I was recently notified that I was selected for a teaching position at Dr. Manuel Barreiro Elementary School, it is located in the Kendall area and will open for the first time in August. I will be in charge of establishing the gifted program for grades 1-4. The school is very close to where I live cutting my commute time considerably.

Thank you for having supported my efforts throughout the past school year. Your cooperation and understanding ensured the academic success of the students. If I may ever be of assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me (marigar@dadeschools.net).

I have attached a copy of the supplies list for 2008-2009 school year. The list was reviewed with the stduents, they are well aware of the items they will need. The students reached a consensus that they will bring the general supplies the first week of school. However, they will wait to meet with each one of their individual teachers for the specific items needed for the particular teacher, to ensure they purchase only what is needed. In addition, we also reviewed and discussed the Summer Reading requirements.

Thank you, as always, for your cooperation. I wish you all the best.

Warmest regards,
Maria Alvarez-Garcia
