Accelerated Reader
The Accelearted Reader program is part of your child's reading responsibilities. Your son or daughter has a set goal for AR. The goal will indicate the ZPD (reading level) and number of AR points your child should strive to earn by the end of the quarter. It is your second grader's responsibility to read independently for AR every evening (including weekends), in order to achieve their AR goals.
Everyone's goal for Quarter 1 is 10 points!

Homework Hot Spot
Homework is assigned Monday-Thursday. Your child will record homework in his/her planner each day. Homework listed on the web is an outline. Specific assignments will be in your child's planner each day. Sometimes homework assignments have to be modified or changed based on classroom events and student progress. I will try to keep the website current and make any changes needed, but if there is ever a question, please give me a call or send a note in your child's planner.
In addition to math, spelling, and Saxon phonics being assigned on a regular basis, your child will be required to spend 20 minutes reading per night (including weekends). He/She may read anything, but this must be time spent reading independently.
