SchoolNotes.com - Linking Educators to the Community

Hello! Welcome to Reading is Fun-damental webpage.

It is hard to believe that we are rapidly approaching the end of the school year.   We are still working in the LANGUAGE! program in all classes.

Lehigh Acres Middle School is having its first ever Language Arts Fair on May 22.  My Advanced Reading classes, Periods 2 and 7, are required to work on a multimedia group project for the Language Arts Fair.  They are now in the process of coming up with creative ideas to analyze or respond to stories they have read this year in the LANGUAGE! program.

Three Book Reports per quarter are still required of each student.  This is the only homework assignment they have from my class, so I expect them to turn these in for a required grade.  Quarter 4 - Book Report #1 was due on April 7.  Unfortunately, many students did not turn in this required homework assignment, which caused them to receive a very low grade on their first Interim for this Quarter, which were sent home last Friday.  I am being generous and allowing students to turn in Book Report #1 late with a 10 point penalty, but any grade is better than a zero.  One zero averaged in can really bring down the overall grade in my class.  Please encourage your student to continue working on Book Reports at home.  The due date for Book Report #2 will be announced soon, as soon as we can get back into the Media Center to check out new books.  Unfortunately, the Media Center has been closed for a couple of weeks due to testing.

If you need to contact me, please call me at the school number (239) 369-6108, extension 298, leave a message on my voicemail, or e-mail me at KayCS@leeschools.net - if I am in class, I will return your call as soon as possible.
