Home and School Cooperation
I dreamed I stood in a studio
And watched two sculptures there.
The clay they used was a young child's mind,
And they fashioned it with care.
One was a teacher - the tools she used
Were books and music and art;
One a parent with a guiding hand
And a gentle, loving heart.
Day after day the teacher toiled
With a touch that was deft and sure.
While the parent labored by her side
And polished and smoothed it o'er.
And when at last their task was done
They were proud of what they wrought
For the things they had molded into the child
Could neither be sold or bought.
And each agreed he would have failed
If he had wored alone
For behind the parent stood the school
And behind the teacher, the home.

Dear 2008-2009 Students, Parents, and Guardians,
Caloosa earned an A+ rating again last year. We will continue to aim high this year. Class assignments will be mailed out by August 1, 2008. Please plan to attend our Open House on Thursday, August 14. Third grade time will be listed on your assignment card. I plan to start on time and stay on schedule in case you need to go to other class meetings. As most of you already know, the state of Florida requires that all third grade students pass the reading portion of the FCAT in order to be promoted to fourth grade. Third grade can be a stressful year if you are not prepared. I have so much to tell you about third grade. I look forward to meeting you!
Sincerely,
Mrs. White
Homework:
Now is the time to develop good learning habits. Homework is one of those habits that will help your child become a top notch student here at Caloosa Elementary. Please provide your child a place and time to complete their homework.
Math homework will always repeat the lesson for that day. All homework papers need to go home and return to school in your child's Homework Folder. See supply list.
Monday - Write a sentence for each spelling word, Math, and AR - (read 30 minutes)
Tuesday - FCAT Vocabulary Cards, Math, and AR - (read 30 minutes)
Wednesday - FCAT Vocabulary, Math, and AR - (read 30 minutes)

Please remember to check and sign your child's planner every night .
Your child is responsible for getting all notes to me first thing in the morning. A good place to store the notes is in the clear pocket attached to the inside of their planner.
Every Monday your child will bring home a Parent Communication Envelope. Please remember to sign and return the gray envelopes. You may keep your child's papers at home.

Education is not a preparation for life; education is life itself.
