Welcome to Reading 2. Concentration will be on fluency and comprehension. We will be working extensively with vocabulary this year. Besides using Word Wisdom workbooks for weekly vocabulary evaluation, we will also use flashcards which will require index cards.   Students should have a well-organized binder with dividers and should bring it to class along with the Word Wisdom vocabulary workbook.   HOMEWORK: Monday-Friday: Read a minimum of 15 minutes each night.  I hope that students will read much more than the minimum.  I would suggest at least one lengthy chapter a night.  Separate homework will occasionally be assigned when necessary, primarily through the vocabulary workbook.  This will be noted in the lesson plans below.

Please check with your student often to see if he/she is keeping up with the Reading. Students will be required to earn 30 points per quarter for AR.  They will receive two grades the last week of each quarter; one for the AR average and the other for reaching the 30 point goal. Not taking AR tests during the quarter could result in two zeroes.  Please urge your student to keep up during the quarter.  A mad rush to complete this requirement

Please be aware that lesson plans are subject to change dependent upon a variety of factors such as assemblies, hurricane days, classes needing more time to complete a given assignment, etc. I will post the new week followed by the previous week in case a student needs to do make-up work.  Lesson plans will be updated on either Friday or Monday depending upon time allowed. If you have any questions, please contact me. I am looking forward to a wonderful year!

Below are the last four weeks for this school year.  Have a great summer!
