Mrs. Wilcox's second grade class Caloosa Elementary  September, 2008 Welcome to our new school year. I am very happy that we have a new year and a new school theme. We will be developing many topics around our travel through space this year. Our AR reading program has space related rewards with our rockets and stickers. Students will also get a chance to earn a theme T-shirt when they earn the number of points designated for their grade level. This week will begin our second grade parent luncheon. Mrs. Wilcox's luncheon is scheduled for next Friday, September 12. Lunch will be a different time than our usual scheduled time. The luncheon will be at 11:30 until 12:00. We will ask families to come back to our classroom for some information about this year's AR reading program. I hope that you will be able to join us!
This is the beginning of the school year's homework schedule for a regular 5 day school week. If there is less days of school, one or more of these assignments will not be requested. Look at the weekly parent note sent home the first day of each school week to find out special events and homework assignments.
Monday: Do handwriting practice and math paper practice. Read about 20 minutes. Read an AR book each night for about 15 -20 minutes. Please sign planner each night and write the approximate number of pages read.
Tuesday: Write 7sentences using any 7spelling words from our spelling list. You can use more than 7words but you need at least 7complete sentences. Please underline the spelling word used in each sentence.
Wednesday: You will get a paper reading booklet. With this booklet are 12 questions. At this time of the year, I ask students to answer the even questions or the odd questions. The answers need to be written in complete sentences instead of one or two word answers.
Thursday: Write each spelling word 2 times. Do math practice sheet. Study for written spelling test on Friday.
