MathThe skills and concepts taught in 4th grade really build upon what they have learned in previous years. This year we will really work on our Math facts (especially multiplication and division) which will make many of our lessons much easier.
Social StudiesIn 4th grade Social Studies we really focus on the state of Florida and what role Florida played throughout the history of the United States.
ScienceWe are very excited to begin our new Science book. We will cover subjects such as planets, forces and motion, electricity, the human body, geology, light, sound, heat, and much more!
Writing/Language ArtsAs you know 4th grade is one of the years that really focuses on writing for the FCAT. This year students will be able to write both narrative and expository essays. Their 3rd grade teachers helped prepare them by having them write paragraphs that could be in both narrative and expository essays. This year we will learn the structure of an essay and what makes an essay enjoyable to read. We will begin the year by learning all about an expository essay. We will also be learning about sentence structure and parts of speech in Language Arts.
