Course Description:
The purpose of this course is to continue the development of geography and timeline skills, and to introduce the early ages of world history. An understanding of this content will require a higher level of thinking about the past.
The content should include Geography Skills, Timeline Skills, Prehistoric Man, Ancient Civilizations (Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece, Rome, and Middle East), Early Religions (Christianity, Islam, and Judaism), Early Europe (Middle Ages) and Asia.
Requirements:
Course requirements include the Glencoe textbook, World History: Journey Across Time, The Early Ages. Students will be able to keep a copy of this book at home, since there is a set in the classroom for them to use in school. In addition, students are required to have notebook paper, a pencil, colored pencils, and a folder everyday in class.
Homework Policy:
Homework will be given as a way for students to practice essential skills, preview new information, and reflect on their learning. Homework will be meaningful and relevant. Late work will be accepted, but at a cost of 10% per day.

Homework and Classwork – 25%
Projects – 25%
Class Participation – 10%

A = 90-100
B = 80-89
C = 70-79
D = 60-69
E = 0-59
Additional Resources
The publishers of the textbook, Journey Across Time, have set up a wonderful website that students can use to enhance their social studies skills and knowledge. It provides an online edition of the text, as well as a myriad of Unit and Chapter resources. Examples include Chapter Overviews, Games, Web Activities, Self-Quizzes, Vocabulary Flashcards, and Interactive Maps.
