          MR. QUINLAN'S LESSON PLANS FOR:
                    May 15, 2008

BEFORE SCHOOL (7:45-8:30)
This is a time in which students arrive early to school to prepare for our daily T.V. Broadcast, Spartan News.  Just be sure that they are engaged, contributing and 'producing' NOT 'consuming'. Have students leave if NOT working on news.  Have them run the slideshow with music and NO games on the computer

SPARTAN NEWS BEGINS (8:30-8:35)
You may want to quite the class and give a count down to begin . . . and the students will do the rest :)  PLEASE SHUT THE STUDIO ROOM AFTER THE BROADCAST AND KEEP CLOSED ALL DAY . . . EQUIPMENT IN THE ROOM.

CHANNEL ONE NEWS (8:35-8:45)
Have a student go to the office to 'flip the switch' to play Channel One News following our own broadcast.

1ST HOUR (8:45-9:40) GRAPH DESIGN & YEARBOOK: 7TH/8TH GRADERS
This class is two classes in one . . . Sue Merkey will be working with the yearbook staff who will work in the Mod-Lab Classroom and you will be working in the back computer lab room with the Graphic Design class.
Students are working on a project in which they are using a website called; www.go2web20.net (Freelance Friday)  Students may NOT be viewing videos from ANY site.  They may put links of their favorites on their own "Pageflakes webpage".

2ND HOUR (9:43-10:38) FILMMAKING: 6TH GRADERS
I do not like to have camera equipment out when I'm not present, so with that said, students may NOT use any video equipment today.  They are to work on editing their movies from the marking period.  If they say/think they are done . . . . they may go to the following website:  www.fotoflexer.com

3RD HOUR (10:42-11:36) MODULAR LAB: 7TH GRADERS
Rachel Cookenmaster is in the room with you on this hour. Today, they won't be able to use any of the 'project' materials (cabinet is locked)  due to the fact I'm not present.  TODAY:

             SUSPENSION BRIDGES
Step #1  Click on my link for suspension bridges on my website: www.pageflakes.com/pquinlan

Step #2  READ/Research the 'wiki' link . . . explore the various bridges

Step #3  Answer the handout with your lab partner (Both names on the paper). . . . must be 8 SENTENCES!!!

Step #4  Copy a picture of the bridge you wrote about and staple to the written response (Written response on top) and hand in.

Step #5  May ONLY explore various suspension bridges.  NO other sites, music or videos!!!!!!

4TH HOUR (11:40-12:20) MODULAR LAB: 8TH GRADERS
Cheri Stibitz works with me with this group.   They will do the same as 3rd Hour.

LUNCH (12:20-12:55)

Walk over with the students to the Spartan Idol (See the attached form "Spartan Idol"

Please leave me a DETAILED reflection of each hour.  Which students were HELPFUL and who was disruptive.  Enjoy your day . . . . I think you will enjoy these students and have them show you how everything works . . . they will amaze you :)  Have a great day!

CARPE DIEM!
