LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES for rising juniors and seniors:
TRYPOD: Interested students should contact Mrs. Hermann as early as possible. Juniors and seniors spend a day learning about the teen-age brain, the affects of alcohol, and peer intervention skills. Then, they present lessons to the sophomore health classes. Mrs. Hermann sent an email to all juniors and seniors. If you are interested but no longer have a copy of the email, send an email to Mrs. Hermann requesting information.
Teenagers: What is normal?

Who's who in the counseling department?
Welcome freshman parents and welcome back sophomore, junior and senior parents!
Each counselor in the Counseling Department will be happy to listen to any questions or concerns that you have. For the purposes of ease of contact, the following description of each person's area of focus may help you get your needs, as well as your daughter's, met more quickly by contacting Ms. Price, Ms. Clark, or me, Ms. Hermann, if there is a specific concern or question that you have.
Ms. Price will work with freshmen during the first year on making the transition to high school through small group meetings with freshmen on selected free periods.
If you have a question about academic issues, please contact Ms. Price. She will address academic issues directly with students and their parents, and, on occasion, refer your daughter to me, Ms. Hermann, for follow-up. Academic issues include students who need help with time management or study skills, are falling behind in grades, or who have either suspected or diagnosed learning disabilities. You can reach Ms. Price at extension 138 or at dprice@nerinxhs.org.
Ms. Clark will continue to lead our efforts in college advising. You will notice articles in the parent newsletter from Ms. Clark each month with information about college planning information and deadlines. Senior parents, and later in the year, junior parents, will attend meetings organized by Ms. Clark for the purpose of getting information on college planning and financial aid. If you have any questions, you can reach Ms. Clark at extension 128 or cclark@nerinxhs.org.
Ms. Hermann will continue to offer opportunities in stress management and other wellness related activities. In addition, parents and students who have concerns about social-emotional issues should contact me at Nerinx, extension 141 or at rhermann@nerinxhs.org.
Sr. Eileen Kersgieter is our department secretary. She is available during school hours on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and half-days on Tuesday and Thursday. If you cannot reach one of the counselors and have a question that needs an immediate answer or don't like voice mail, call Sr. Eileen at ext. 123.
