PLANS FOR THE WEEK OF: November 16-20, 2009
Each week, your child will continue bringing home 1 or 2 reading books in their "Leapin' Good Take Home Books" envelope. Please listen as your child reads their stories to you and ask them questions about what they have read to check for comprehension. Also, in your child's folder, you will find a list of "WORDS TO KNOW" in a clear sheet protector. (Week 13) Please listen to your child read these words every night. They will be tested on them each Friday.
We will focus on addition and subtraction as inverse facts or "Fact Families". (Example: 2+3=5 3+2=5 5-2=3 5-3=2) We will use activities on the ACTIVEBOARD to practice these skills. Your child should continue practicing the pack of addition and subtraction flashcards they have at home in the ziploc bag. We are still focusing on +0, -0, +1, -1, +2, and -2. (I will let you know when to pull more.) Please remember to keep the set of cards you pulled in a convenient location and practice a flashcard drill with your child daily. The ultimate goal is to have your child recognize each addition and subtraction fact in 2 seconds. We will having timed tests on these facts each Friday.
This week we will continue having a spelling list to practice during the week and a spelling test will be given on Friday. This week, we will focus on Unit 13: Words beginning with dr-, gr-, and tr-.
