Welcome back to school! Thank you for stopping by!

The class syllabus for the upcoming Semester is below:

                 COMPUTER EDUCATION

TEACHER: Mr. Meyer, M-F 1st & 2nd, 4th, 5th & 6th hours Room 206

OBJECTIVES: Computer Education students will work to gain computer skills that will serve them throughout their school years, in their personal lives, and in their careers. Some specific goals are: To type at a rate of 40 words per minute for 5 minutes with no more than 5 errors; to operate the computer and the software quickly and correctly; to gain confidence and skills necessary for learning and applying more advanced computer applications.

SCOPE OF LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES:

Classroom activities will include directed reading and hands-on keying led by the teacher while working with specific MicroType, CheckPro, and Microsoft Office software programs.

EQUIPMENT:

Students will be assigned to a computer station consisting of a CPU, a Monitor, a keyboard, a mouse and mouse pad, a work-stand and headphones.  The student will be accountable for notifying the teacher of any equipment problems as soon as they are discovered.  Any deliberate vandalism or theft of computing resources will be reported to school administrators and replacement cost may be billed to the parent/guardian as determined by the school principal.  Classroom textbooks will be used in conjunction with software installed on the Foster Server.  Intentional damage to textbooks or hacking into the server will be dealt with as stated above.  Students will use their Student ID number as a password for access to the software and are not permitted to share their passwords with other students.

GRADING:

All graded work will be completed in class.  Although attendance is necessary, there is no absence penalty above the district policy and no make-up work will be given for missed class time.   Students will be continually evaluated for correct typing form and posture, following correct lesson sequence, effort, and correct usage and care of the equipment. Participation in Vocabulary (BAV) and Reading activities is expected from every student and will count towards overall course grades.

AGENDAS:

Foster students are required to bring the Student agenda to each and every class period – no exceptions!  Alternative Hall passes will be issued only in an extreme emergency!

I have read and discussed this syllabus with my child.
