Just a few reminders for the two days we are in school this week:
1.  Monday's lunch menu is Turkey and dressing or garden salad.  It is also Grandparent's Day and our lunch schedule is different.  We will eat lunch at 10:50 - 11:40.

2.  The lunch menu for Tuesday is Sack Lunch.

3. Tuesday is early dismissal at 1:30

4.  Please return report card envelopes on Monday or Tuesday

5.  Please send in your field trip forms and money. I will be drawing for chaperones on Tuesday!
Please note....I have had 18 requests to chaperone! I love that all of you want to be involved but we can only take 5 chaperones per class. If your name is not selected you can still join us at the Dallas World Aquarium and walk with  your child's group. Thanks for understanding!

I wish you and your family the a wonderful and restful Thanksgiving.  Be safe in your journeys and enjoy your time away from the hustle and bustle of weekday life!!!
.
****Notes from the Nurse*****
1. Please do not send your child to school until they are fever free for 24 hours.
2. Please do not send your child to school until they have not vomited for 24 hours.
3.  Remind your child not to share jackets, caps, combs or brushes to prevent a lice outbreak.
A Note From The "Turkey" Lady
Thanks for all of the donations!  Over 70 frozen turkeys were donated!  Wellinton Rocks!!!!
Please check the lost and found if your child is missing something. Also, make sure their jackets and lunchboxes are labeled with their names.
Calendar of Events
November 25 - Early Dismissal 1:30
November 26 - 30 Thanksgiving Holidays
With fall in the air, please remember to always send a jacket to school with your child. We try to go out to recess if at all possible, and we hate to see kids cold because they weren't prepared for a change in weather. Thanks so much for your help!

Guided Reading Books
Your first grader will be bringing home guided reading books. Please let your child read his/her book aloud to you many times. We have talked about reading to mom, dad, grandparents, siblings, and even pets! Encourage practice, practice and more practice, even if the books seem to be easy. They should be able to read these books on their own, with little to no assistance from you. If they do get stuck, use the strategy list sent home to help them solve the word on their own. Please remember that it might seem like they are memorizing the text (by using the pictures), but this is an early reading skill that they will grow out of! Please encourage your child to use the pictures for clues. When your child is done reading, ask them questions about the story. Ask about the characters, setting, problem, solution, facts, story sequence, beginning, middle, and end. We have and will be working on all of these story elements in class over the next few months. Please make sure that these books are returned daily so that your child may take home a new book the next time his/her group meets.
You may contact me through my email: windelerk@lisd.net . Please email me using your mail server, the Schoolnotes website delays delivery of emails.

Going to recess is a great time for the kids. If your daughter wears a dress, please make sure they have shorts underneath. Also, tennis shoes make the best footwear for school. Kids may wear any shoes, but tennis shoes seem to cause the fewest problems. Students must wear tennis shoes on PE days.
