Note to the parents:
Thank you all for the WONDERFUL gifts you gave me this Valentine's Day!  I am so thankful that I have wonderful parents and students that I am working with this year.  Truly, I am blessed!

Scholastic book order money is due by Friday, February 22nd.  I have a few extra copies if your child can't find theirs.

TAKS TEST DATES:
March 5th: Writing (Revising/Editing and Writing)
April 29th: Math
April 30th: Reading

Open House is on March 5th.  The room should be interesting seeing as how I have to have everything covered for the TAKS writing that morning... ;-)

If any of you are interested, I would like to have "mystery guests" come into the classroom every once and awhile.  Every day, the kids and I have 30 minutes (from 12pm to 12:30pm) for read-aloud.  This is our favorite time of the day and I thought it would be fun if I could have other people than myself read to the kids.  I read chapter books during this time, but you are more than welcome to bring any book that you would like to read.  Let me just tell you, THEY LOVE LISTENING TO PICTURE BOOKS! I have had a mystery guest already this year and they ate it up!  If you would like to be a guest, please help me to keep it a secret and do not let your child know that you are coming.  E-mail me and let me know if you would like to help me out with this.

I am setting up a new bulletin board outside of our room.  This board will give your child the opportunity to show glimpses of their lives.  This month we are displaying our pets.  I have asked each child to bring in a picture of their pets, with their name on the back, so we can post them on the board.  I will be hanging the pictures up as I get them.  (My Emma Boo is already up there!)  When it is time to change the board, I will ask the students to bring in another picture of that month's topic.  After I take the pictures off of the board, they will be returned home with your child.  I think that this will be a fun activity for us to do and it is something interesting for everyone to look at in the hallway.  Thank you all for helping out with this.

Don't forget... our class is putting together a basket for the SpringFest/Carnival here at Prairie Trail on March 13th from 6:00-8:30pm.  This is going to be a fun night, so please plan on attending with your whole family!  All proceeds from the basket will go to our wonderful school.  My class's theme is "Going to the beach!"  I have already had a few donations and I can't wait to see our finished product.  My class hopes to have the BEST basket available that night!  If you would like to help us out, please e-mail me and I will let you know what we need.  Thank you in advance for your generosity.

Some things we need for the room:
Nothing right now, thanks!
