Hello Moms and Dads,
This week our letter/sound focus is “H”. The children will enjoy our weekly poem which features a hippo and all of his “H” belongings (hat, hammer, etc.)
The new sight word is “you”. Be sure to reinforce this new word along with all the previous sight words.
Five Little Ducks is a great way to begin the week. In addition to the story itself, the book offers an excellent lesson in the use of quotation marks, as the children continue to learn more about sentence structure and punctuation.

Please work with your student on the skill of tying shoes. Beginning with a larger shoe with more lace length and then working down to the smaller child shoe might help.
Social Studies
This week our unit of study is Needs and Wants. Students will learn to identify basic human needs and explain how the basic needs of food, clothing and shelter can be met. The students will listen to a delightful story titled "Mooncake" about a bear that must decide what to take to explore the moon. The week will finish with an introduction of “Technology in My Life”,
We will begin Topic 4 titled: More and Fewer. The students will be introduced to the topic through the use of literature, games, and technology. The students will listen to a story titled Just Enough Carrots and make a take-home book titled "I am Anna".
The classes really enjoyed the Pumpkin Math and the fun activities of the past week.. We carved our pumpkin and tasted its seeds. We even graphed our favorite candy today! Ask your “little pumpkin” which candy had the most.
