We are looking forward to seeing you at Parent Orientation this Thursday, September 4th from 6:00-7:00. Each teacher will be going over the third grade policies and procedures in your child's classroom.
Here is the Third Grade week at a glance:
Social Studies- This week we will be learning about map tools, and cardinal and intermediate directions.
Science- We have begun our study of Science processes, safety, and tools. This week we will learn about how to make good observations in order to make better inferences.
Math- This week we will finish up Topic One which covers place value and counting money. We will have an assessment Thursday that will only count as one grade since our students are just becoming familar with our new math curriculum.
Reading- Our first story this year is Authur Writes a Story. The Hot Slip will come home on Tuesday. Thank you for remembering to sign this to verify that your child read the story. The comprehension questions will be assigned on Thursday.
Writer's Workshop- Our writer's workshop will begin this week with mini-lessons designed to foster ideas for writing.
Spelling- Look for the pre-test for Unit 2 to come home on Tuesday. The test over Unit Two will be on Friday. The last five words on each week's list are priority wordds (high frequency words that are most often mispelled)
