Each night Monday - Thursday a homework sheet will be given.  Please visit the fun math websites below!!

SCIENCE:  The past 2 weeks the students have bee learning about the different states of matter. There will be a test Monday, Dec 15th. Each student created a flipbook for a review. Please encourage your child to study for the test over the weekend.

SPELLING:
The spelling pretest will be each Monday.  If the students receive a 100 on the pretest they will have a different list of words for the week.  The fourth grade team is calling this the challenge list.  This list will include words from Reading, Social Studies, Science, and Math.  The Spelling TEST will be given each Friday.

LANGUAGE ARTS: The students will be reviewing grammar skills all this week.  Please check your child's planner and Take Home folder for any homework.

Sincerely,
THE FOURTH GRADE TEACHERS

A Little bit about your Fourth Grade Teachers:

Mrs. Aubin:
After graduating from TWU with a degree in Early Childhood Education, I wanted to work for an outstanding school district. I feel very blessed to work for Lewisville schools and Highland Village families.  This is a great community and I'm glad I get to be a part of it!

I am beginning my 9th year of teaching, and my 6th year of  teaching 4th grade.  I love the age and the enthusiasm they bring to learning!  They keep me on my toes!

I am looking forward to a great year getting to know each student and their family.

Mrs. Cazares:
Sundra Cazares is a native Georgian. She went to Georgia College where she received her bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. She eagerly went right into teaching 3rd grade for the Fayette County School System.  She taught for 13 years in Georgia.
Mrs. Cazares and her family moved to Flower Mound, Texas in June of 2004.Her husband’s new job with NCR brought them to the Dallas area. She has 1 daughter, Scout and 1 son, Luke. They have 2 dogs! Max is a border collie and Maggie is a mutt.
When Sundra finds spare time between her family and dogs, she enjoys exercising, horseback riding, and reading. Nicholas Sparks is her absolute favorite author! Teaching 4th grade is one of her favorite grades, and she is thrilled to be part of the Highland Village family!

Mrs. Thomason:
Kelly Thomason was born and raised in Syracuse, NY.  She attended college at Harding University in Searcy, AR where she received her BA in Elementary Education.  After graduating college she moved to Philadelphia, PA in order to be closer to her family, but as fate would have it she was soon recruited to teach in Dallas ISD in 1990. She taught 3rd grade in DISD for 3 years before accepting a position with LISD. She met and married her native Texan husband (Barry) in 1991, she was destined to stay right here in TX!  They have 2 children, one son named Cody, and one daughter, Jenna, who is a 5th grader here at HVE:)! In addition, they have a golden retriever named Dixie, and a black & white kitty cat, Jazzy. This is Mrs. Thomason's 13th year to teach school. Besides teaching 3rd & 4th grades, she has had experience teaching 5th grade, as well. Every chance she gets, Kelly loves to read anything by author Jodi Picoult, as well as spending time with friends & family. She is looking forward to a terrific year learning all about her new 4th graders!

Ms. Whitaker:
I have been teaching fourth grade for 4 years now.  I also did my student teaching here at Highland Village in Kinder, First, Second, and Third grade.  I will be teaching math and science to Mrs. Thomason and my class. I love to play with my 4 year old dog, Cassie and spend time with friends.  I believe that a love for learning was instilled early in my life by my loving parents and I want to pass that love on to each student. I am looking forward to a rewarding and fabulous year!!
