Dear Parents,

Well the last day is here!  I can't believe the year has already come and gone.  I mean it when I say it's been such a pleasure to teach your children this year.  They are all so gifted in so many different ways.  They have made me wonder, think, laugh and smile.  They are such a special group to me because they are my last group here at Mark Twain.

Thank you so much to all of you for your support this year.  Thanks to Julie and Carol for being our room parents.  Thanks to Cathie Partridge for seeing to it that the kids had art-a-la-carte lessons all year.  Thanks to those of you who put up with me for two years in a row!  For all of your notes, cards, flowers, chocolate, lunches, iced teas, coffees, and countless other gifts and tokens, thank you, thank you, thank you!  As a small token of my appreciation, everyone is invited to my home on Sunday, June 8th at 4:00 p.m. for wine and cheese.  The address is 4534 Kingfisher Dr., 77035.  If you need to reach me, my home number is 713-721-3095.

Don't forget to encourage your kids to read throughout the break.  If you want to get a jump on third grade, make sure they know all their addition and subtraction facts and start working on multiplication.  Also, don't forget all the learning that's found in experience.  A day at the beach or the pool, a nature walk through the neighborhood, a hot afternoon in the library or a museum or catching fireflies on a hot summer night all have beauty, mystery and fun that no kid should miss.

I will keep you posted on our move to Clear Lake.  Maybe I'll see you sometime next year on a visit back to "the city."

Until then,
Mrs. McLellan
