Dear Parents:
It is important that you sign and return the permission slip for the winter program sent last week. We need to know who will be attending the winter program in order to plan according to attendance. (1st, 3rd, and 5th)
The folders with the new vocabulary were sent today, please keep the vocabulary at home, and make sure your children review it at least once a week.(1st, 2nd. and 3rd)
Please return folders on Monday November 19th
Thank you,
Dulce M. Juarez

                                         October

The evaluations you received are for the first 3 and a half weeks.
The language report card is yellow and it will go home at the same time the 9 weeks academic reports are sent.
I would like to inform you that language evaluations are not like other classes. It is not a fail/pass grade. "N" does not mean "F," or "E" does not mean "A"
"S" which means satisfactory, is indeed a good level, it means you children are learning properly and are achieving satisfactory progress.
If your children get an "N" it means that there is a need to improve maybe work harder in class, dedicate more time to learn the vocabulary or pay more attention to the class, it does not mean that they are failing or not learning.

If you want to reinforce at home there are different things you can try:

* You can set the movies they watch in Spanish with or without subtitles in English.

* You can obtain audiobooks in Spanish through scholastic or public library.

* You can get picture dictionaries or books to read in Spanish according to their level.

* You can obtain Spanish software for your computers through:
www.jumpstar.com
www.eurotalk.com
www.byki.com
or any store that sells software for children.

* You can access the games in the web pages we have for our classes. The Web pages are:

4th grade

2nd grade
http://www.quia.com/pages/spanishb2ndgrade.html

They do not need password to access these games the password is only for quizzes.

If you have any questions rewarding the Spanish program, the activities in the classroom or would like to meet for a conference you can send me a note through this section.

Sincerely,
Dulce M. Juarez
