October 6, 2008
Dear Parents,
Many
children have turned in reading book lists. Please check with your child to see if they turned in a book
list for the month of September. We had one book list turned in that had no
name. This month (October) we
start the Pizza Hut Book-It challenge.
If your child turns in a book list this month, (indicating they have
read for 240 minutes) they will receive a certificate for a free pizza. Please remember to read with your
child at least four nights a week for 15 minutes each time. If you have any questions, please call
me.
This week we are reading “Tara and Tiree, Fearless
Friends.” Please practice our new
spelling words. Remember the
last three spelling words are “challenge words.” Spelling Words:
part, hard, born, horse, before, more, smart, farm, porch, corn, chore,
score, cardinal, morning, therefore. The spelling test will be on Friday
this week.
Stating this week, the students will have spelling
homework every night except on Friday.
It is required that your child return to school the next day with the
homework finished and handed in.
If they don’t do it at home, then the students will stay in for recess
to finish it. Homework gives the
student practice in studying the spelling words and teaches them
responsibility. As a parent, it
was important to teach children to put their backpacks in the same place
everyday and put the homework in the backpack as soon as they were finished. It is your child’s responsibility to
get their homework turned in. If
you have questions, please contact me.
Sincerely,
Mrs.
