Mrs. Lynn Snowden, Instructor

The course of Algebra II is a college preparatory class and will be taught as such.  The goal of this class is to increase the mathematical knowledge of the students using the district standards and objectives for Algebra II.  The student’s responsibility is to be an active learner by asking questions, completing assignments, and assimilating concepts for future academic activities.

Equipment:  You are required to have a pencil, colored pens or pencil, and highlighter marker.  Composition notebook.( Optional:  Graphing Calculator TI-83 or TI-84)http://schoolnotes.com/cgi-bin/notesupdate-new.pl

Assignments:  You will have an assignment everyday.  All assignments will have a due date (usually the following day).  Late work will receive no credit.  All assignments will be corrected and graded for points, which will be 20% of your grade.

Tests:  Usually, three announced tests will be given each nine weeks grading period.  Tests will be announced at least two days prior to the test date.  Each test will be worth 100 points.  Unannounced quizzes are possible on any day.  Tests and quizzes will be 80% of your grade.

Grade:  The percentage earned will equate to the letter grade specified by district policy.

Absences:  If you are absent, it is your responsibility to obtain your missing assignments and hand them in as your student handbook states.  If you miss a test, it is your responsibility to make arrangements with the teacher for a time before or after school to make-up the test.  If you are absent for an athletic or a school activity, you are expected to get your assignments before you leave and hand them in when you return.

Extra Help:  Extra help may be obtained before or after school for any student who has been an active learner in class.  CAUTION:  The student who waits until test day to come in for extra help, will usually find the teacher preoccupied with others who have procrastinated!!!!!
