Homework: Whatever you practice is what you get better at! Make reading a habit! Set up a time to read every night. Does your child have a very short attention span or a longer one? If he/she has a short attention span, plan for him/her to read 20 minutes every night. Increase the time very gradually (one or two minutes at a time). To really get the main idea of the story you want to aim for twenty minutes at a time. Ask your child to tell you about the story before he writes his sentence for homework. Verbalizing helps your child think about what to write. Take time and help him correct his spelling and punctuation. Remember this is graded on Mondays!
