Highlights:
Even though school is nearing to a close, we are still in the throws of learning! We had a raucous debate on the fairness of the Indian Removal Act of 1830. We definitely have some budding lawyers in the group (or at least some passionate arguers!) We have finished our district assessments. Please take a look at the sheet I sent home to see just how much your child has grown. Please note all the dates of upcoming events listed below!
Looking Ahead…
Ocean Awareness Week- Get on Board! We are having our first ever Ocean Awareness Week! We held off discussing the ocean biome in depth during our Life Structures Unit so that we could devote a whole week to the wonderful world which is blocks to our west. We will be learning about the sea’s inhabitants as well as learning how to protect the beautiful waters. We will be visiting Ms. Whitt for our last Science Lab of third grade. On Friday, we will be decorating t-shirts to wear to IMAX, so please send in a plain white t-shirt as soon as possible. We’d appreciate any decorative supplies you might have at home!
Math- Room 2 took the end of the district’s end of the year assessment this past week. I am amazing at and impressed with each and every child’s growth. All that hard work in Saxon has paid off! We will continue with Saxon through our final full week of school.
Literature- Little House on the Prairie is a long book! We are finishing up the story and will write cereal box book reports next week. Please send in a cereal box if you have not already done so.
Social Studies- We have officially ended our Westward Expansion unit. The kids took the final test this morning- such diligent workers- and the many long essays I saw highlighted their growth not only in social studies but in writing! We are having a Western Hoedown on the last day of school to celebrate the kids’ achievements.
