Highlights:
Our bean map day was a success! Thank you to Rossania, Rebecca Weber, and Kate Bergin for their stellar bean assistance. These maps will prove to be good study aids. We¡¦ve been busy completing our poetry books about the U.S. geographical regions. The poems are lyrical and the artwork mimics the beauty of our great country. Please save the date of October 8th to join us for the 3rd grade¡¦s Poetry Recitation.
Please read the State Speech information packet carefully (it came home yesterday in a yellow folder). You are to keep the blue packets as reference. We, as a group, discussed a theoretical timeline. This year we have given the students three weeks to work on this project instead of the usual two weeks. Time management is a huge piece to making these projects successful.
Volunteers, I look forward to seeing you in the classroom next week!
Please make sure to sign in with the office before coming to Room 2. Thank you in advance!
Looking Ahead¡K
Math- We continue to tackle the multiplication tables. We will be delving into the 9¡¦s and 3¡¦s next week! Please encourage your child to practice, practice, practice. I am sending home an enrichment packet today which is purely voluntary. To receive extra credit, your child has a month to complete the month¡¦s worth of math problems. The set of solutions is due on the last day of the month. These problems will stretch their logic and critical thinking skills.
Literature- We almost have finished our poetry about the six main geographical regions of the U.S. We have written a haiku, diamante, cinquain, acrostic, and tanka poem. We will begin our new literature book, The Boxcar Children, The Pizza Mystery starting Monday.
Social Studies- We are almost done discussing the six main geographical regions found in the USA. Our final unit test will be on Wednesday, October 8th. In today¡¦s paperwork is a yellow study guide. The guide is a general outline of what we have covered in this unit. Next week I will be sending home the kids¡¦ geography folders¡¦ classwork which will be helpful for reviewing this unit¡¦s information even further.
State Speeches- (Worth repeating...) Please read the State Speech information packet carefully (it came home yesterday in a yellow folder). You are to keep the blue packets as reference. Please note that the white copies of the ¡§Top Ten Interesting Facts About (STATE NAME)¡¨ are for the final draft. Keep these guideline packets and papers in a safe place for the next three weeks!
