Due to the blizzard conditions and general lack of visibility for operating school busses, school bus transportation for Pembina Trails School Division (including Van Walleghem) and most of Metro Winnipeg School Divisions is cancelled for today, and schools remain open. You may have staff who decide not to come to school or who arrive late - we will use the rules we set up after the Nov 15 storm a few years ago if necessary. . . Thank you for your cooperation and support on what will be a difficult road transportation day. . .

This site is used in the event of a bus or school cancellation at Van Walleghem. The call to cancel busses is made by 7:00 am.

If there is no cancellation of busses indicated on this site by 7:00 am, busses are running as usual. If busses are running as usual in the morning, they will run in the afternoon. If they are cancelled in the morning, they are cancelled for the day.
This site is used to advise our parents when there is a bus or school cancellation. Buses were cancelled last on February 5, 2007. This site received some 200 hits on that day alone. Feel free to subscribe to the site by clicking "notify me".

In the event that buses are cancelled we follow the following protocol to facilitate the extra traffic at the end of the day and avoid student exposure to severe weather.
No Bus Pick-Up Protocol in Inclement Winter Weather
When school busses are canceled many more children need to be picked up at the end of the day and traffic congestion becomes a safety concern. To ensure a safe pick-up of all of our children, we use the following protocol:
Princemere Road becomes a one-way street. Two staff members re-direct traffic at the corner of
Lindenwood Drive West & Princemere to Kingsborough Drive. Another staff member crosses children who walk home.
Students wait in their classrooms.
Some children may be meeting their parents at a prearranged location. If teachers believe the plan is reasonable
and safe, in consideration of the weather, they dismiss these children.
Staff members in the loop at the front of the school keep traffic moving and contact the office by two-way radio as cars arrive telling the office which children should come outside. The office staff announce the childrens names over the PA. Drivers are asked to please be patient and remain in their vehicles. You may wish to delay your arrival to 3:40 for older children. This protocol will begin at 3:20 and will stay in effect until all children are picked up.
